The new ATC INTEGRATED AMP AND CD PLAYER , SIA2-100 2-channel integrated Amp/DAC and CD2 CD player have been designed to work together driving a high-quality passive loudspeaker pair, or individually to upgrade existing sources or amplifiers. They join a formidable range of high-performance audio electronic products and loudspeaker systems designed and built in Stroud, mostly by hand, for studio and hi-fi applications.
HIGH END CONSUMER AUDIO: FIRST!
ATC Acoustics are a thoroughbred in the loudspeaker world, with a large and highly acclaimed series of “accurate” sounding loudspeakers listed at various price points for audiophiles. The ATC SCM50 has been given an “Audio Excellence” classification in the Hi-Fi Critic magazine. They have now just launched some brand-new audiophile electronic offerings with its CD2 CD player and SIA2-100 stereo amplifier.
Both of these units are heavy duty products and they each feature a 12mm aluminum front panel which is finished in brushed and anodized ‘titanium’ silver.
The CD2 Stereo CD player uses a TEAC 5020A-AT transport, an Asahi (AKI) DAC and combines them with ATC’s own low-noise multiple feedback analogue filter. The user has a choice between the player’s unbalanced phono and balanced XLR outputs. Besides line-level stereo outputs on RCA phono sockets, the XLR sockets use true differential Left and Right outputs which have the option of using its digital optical or coaxial connections with an external DAC.
This DAC can also be found in their SIA2-100 integrated stereo amplifier. The unit offers high power output and exceptional resolution, ideally suited to driving ATC’s small & mid-size passive loudspeakers although I would argue that it could be a good match even with the ATC SCM 50 SL as well as a wide range of loudspeakers from other manufacturers. Like its matching CD player, the amplifier manages to offer a plethora of connections, including two pairs of analogue inputs, and a trio of digital inputs: optical, coaxial and USB Type B.
These exciting new ATC separates will not go on sale until April, but enthusiasts in England can hear them at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show, which starts next Friday, the 22nd of February. The ATC CD2 CD player and SIA2-100 will be Priced at $3749 and $2349 respectively in America.
