Van Halen Super Vinyl by Mobile Fidelity are now available for audiophiles (1978 – 1984 in 180 -gram Vinyl!)
Every once in a while, someone comes along and writes music history. In this case, there are two! Eddie and Alex Van Halen; a band that most music enthusiasts are quite familiar with!
Eddie and Alex were born in the Netherlands to a musical family. Their father Jan Van Halen was a Dutch jazz pianist, clarinetist, and saxophonist. They moved to the US in 1962 settling near family in Pasadena California. There the brothers trained in classical piano and attended school.
Rock music is really what drove the brothers, Alex starting on guitar and Eddie on Drums. But one day Eddie heard Alex’s performance of “Wipe Out” on the drums Eddie gave Alex his kit, took up guitar, and rock history was made!
While Eddie never learned to read music some guitar players would argue that this helped his playing style by not “sticking to the rules” that traditional guitar teaching brings.
When their self-titled debut album hit in 1978 the rock world was astounded at what they heard. In what is arguably the beginning of true shred guitar. Eddies Tapping technique and ability to make exceptional use of the guitar’s fret board put him in a class by himself.
David Lee Roth was the lead singer for Van Halen from the beginning until 1985 when he left the band. Some fans say that while Lee Roth was not the best singer that the band had throughout their career but he was a great frontman. Many believe the albums with Roth were the best Van Halen
Mobile Fidelity knew that these albums have a huge following, especially in the hard rock audiophile crowd. The exciting event here is that they have obtained the original master tapes from the original studio sessions for every album to master into a high-quality 180-gram vinyl. This process provides the best way of producing the sound of the original studio masters. Historically, Mobile Fidelity knows what they are doing. They have built their reputation on these high-level, remastered recordings for years. Anyone that knows quality, audiophile recordings know Mobile Fidelity.
Having been around since 1977, they believe that when you make a recording the most important variable is that you use the studio masters and keep the audio as neutral as the original recordings were. SuperVinyl is their new proprietary compound that enhances noise floor and enhanced groove definition on the disc itself.
This allows their records to completely retrieve all discerning information; thereby making them indistinguishable from the original cutting lacquer. MoFi uses a proprietary process for cutting their vinyl that they call Ultradisc One-step which removes the cutting process for a better transfer to the final disc.

While these recordings are by no means cheap, at $125.00 for each album, they are going to be the best way to get this piece of music history in a new high-quality format that will no doubt be collectible in the future. Remember these albums are going to be strictly limited in production so when they are released in early 2022 they will go quick.
